The partnership under the name of Wise Lord & Ferguson was formed in 1921, originating from the firm of Wise & Inglis (in practice since 1890). H. J. Wise was joined by C. E. H Ferguson MC from Launceston and John Lord from the Hobart Savings Bank who then merged with Adams and Bennetto in 1960 – A. W. Adams started practice in 1910 and C. A. Bennetto in 1919.

During 1981 the firm of Wise Lord & Ferguson merged with the national partnership of Deloitte Haskins + Sells. A R Hewer & Co merged in 1985. In 1987, the then partners decided to leave the national partnership of Deloitte’s and reform the firm known as Wise Lord & Ferguson.
